My name is Jason Albert. I am co-owner/operator of Rasher Quivers. My son, Gabriel, is the other half of the business and the reason Rasher Quivers is here today. This is the story of how Rasher Quivers came to be.
Gabriel told me that he wanted to get into archery. The equipment was expensive and Gabriel's interests were changing faster than the Wisconsin weather, so I dismissed it thinking it would pass. Time went by and he hadn't changed his mind. In fact, two years went by and he was even more adamant about it then ever.
I finally broke down and we started searching for bows on the Internet. Gabriel stopped me and said that he didn't want the bows we were looking at in the expensive stores. Instead, he showed me a YouTube video about a "You Finish" bow. I checked it out and it was well within our price range. Best of all, it was a project we could work on together. A "You Finish" bow is a raw wood bow that you finish yourself. You sand it. You stain or paint it. You clear coat it. Basically you can finish it any way you want.
Gabriel has always been artistic and I have always loved crafting in one way, shape, or form. A "You Finish" bow seemed like the perfect match. We didn't stop there. We made our own quivers and arm-guards too. We were having a great time crafting our equipment and honing our archery skills. We now have six "You Finish" bows set up and ready to shoot.
We knew the equipment we made was good because we used it, but we were surprised to see the interest from other archers. It didn't take long for Gabriel to see the potential in our equipment. He wanted to turn it into a business.
Meanwhile, we heard about a traditional archery forum on the website we bought our bows from (GIBow.com.) This forum (Stick &String) would eventually play a larger roll in my business. We posted the lessons we learned and the products we made on the forum. One day I got an Email from the owner of G.I. Bow asking if we were interested in selling our quivers on his website. It was then that I took my son's advise. We started Rasher Quivers in May 2010.
I have tried several businesses before and they failed miserably. I tried a mobile motorcycle detailing business and a serenading business. I even tried Amway and ExcExcel. This one was different. We loved doing it. I couldn't believe that didn't think about doing this years ago. I have always loved crafting.
Why the name Rasher Quivers? One of Gabriel's many ventures included computer animation. We were working on a comic book with a hero named Rasher. We knew that the name wasn't affiliated with anything else and it seemed to fit. Plus it turned out to be a decent story to tell when people ask where it came from.
Our Quivers were our mainstream products, but now we offer other archery accessories as well. These accessorid include arrow cases, longbow cases, and bow stringers. We hope to design and develop more products as time goes by, but our standards are high. If we wont use it ourselves, we wont sell it. Win, loose, or draw, Rasher Quivers is here to stay. It's more than just our business. It's our passion
